Korean actress Hwang Jung-eum may star alongside actor Lee Sung-kyun in an upcoming TV series on MBC.
"Hwang is looking over playing the female lead in 'Golden Time' in a positive light though nothing has been finalized as of yet," an official with her agency Sidus HQ told 10Asia over the phone on Thursday.
If the former girl group member turned actress takes on the series, she will take on the role of Kang Jae-in, who is an heiress of a hospital that only cares about her ex-boyfriend. It will also be her first drama since signing with Sidus HQ earlier this month.
"Golden Time," helmed by Kwon Seok-jang, will begin shooting in mid-May once casting is finalized and air in July after current series "Light and Shadow" ends it run.
Hwang made her debut in girl group Sugar with Ayumi, Haeseung and Haleen in 2002, but the group quickly broke up after two years.
She has successfully expanded her career into acting with roles in “High Kick 2” (MBC, 2009), “Giant” (SBS, 2010) and “Can You Hear My Heart” (MBC, 2011) which all pulled off good records in terms of viewership ratings.
