KIM Ki-duk, who has won praise throughout the international film community for his distinctive low-budget films, has opened shooting on his 12th project.
To be titled The Bow, the film is set on a small,remote island not listed on any maps, and tells the story of an old but sprightly man who is in love with a teenage girl. It stars veteran actor JEON Seong-hwan (Ogu) and actress SEO Min-jeong, who also starred in KIM's 11th film Samaritan Girl(也许有误，第11部应该是[空房子]吧).
The $950,000 film opened shooting in early January, and is scheduled to wrap up shooting by the end of the month. Japanese company Happinet is financing half of the film's budget, in return for distribution rights in Japan. International sales will be handled by Cineclick Asia.
KIM's previous two films, 3-Iron and Samaritan Girl, won Best Director awards at the Venice and Berlin film festivals, respectively. |
