KJE was entering the studio earlier than the appointed time. She gave us her trade mark big smile and high toned vocal greeting with a gasping breath and flushing cheek, before she caught her breath due to climbing up the relatively high staircase to the studio. She explained her makeup free face and comfortable black jean pants, for she was on the way back to monitor a real handball match in the surburb of Seoul. There's a reason why she was monitoring the handball match all of sudden. Her upcoming movie is about the Korean national handball players who had won the silver medal at the Athens Olympics in 2004. She's going play the role of a coach. She has taken a spartan lesson from a professional coach, four hours a day, three times a week. Occassionally, she has gotten accustomed to the real atmosphere on the spot while visting the arena, and reviewed what she had learned so far. She confesses that at first it was very hard to follow up the exercise since she is not an athletic person, but she got fascinated by transforming her biceps and thighs into more muscular ones. She kept graping and twisting a rubber ball and pole while hair styling and putting on make-up. At least she wants to play the handball, not on the level of a player though.
"It isn't the kind of a huge scaled movie that shows a lot of fancy scenes. It is rather a heart warming film that you can transport your empathy to very realistic characters in it. It is a film like a humble meal prepared by your mom, not like a full-course french cuisine. I get attracted to this film because it revitalizes my restless passion and feverish heart which I had had when I had freshly started acting. And I believe the destiny makes me chose it. One day I had this sudden urge to have my hair cut. so I did it. All of my family members teased me that I looked like a sport player, the next day I got this script, then I decided to do this film. I got goose bumps and thought, " this must be my destiny."
"I feel strange wearing these fancy dresses, after wearing sweat shirts these days. Don't I look weird?"
The original concept for the photo shoot was "chic & edge" with an expressionless face, however, eventhough she tried to maintain a poker face, the multi-million-dallar smile of hers broke in as soon as the shot was stopped. Naturally the photographer couldn't help himself to push the shutter for capturing that lovely smile.
"I don't know why I'm I doing like this. Shall I not laugh? Shall I pose for a poker face?"
But all the people at the studio were already addicted to her ultra-powerful smile, eventually all the cuts I chose were the ones with her big smile.
Any dresses looked good on her firmer and slimmer bodyline due to the exercise, so the photo shoot was finished soon. After removing the makeup and changing to her usual clothes, she was willing to help out the mess.
Finally, she said goodbye with her half-moon shaped eyes and ringing voice, she carried many things to help her staffs. How anyone cannot love her?
