Jang Hyuk Talks About Life as a Father
March 4, 2010
Charismatic drama actor of KBS‘ Chuno(The Slave Hunters) Jang Hyuk may be an accomplished actor, but deep down inside he is still a grateful son and a proud father. And on March 4th, he spoke about his inner thoughts on family life.
On YTN News & Issues, Jang Hyuk, whose birth name is Jeong YongJoon, revealed his feelings about life after marriage, saying “Although I’ve lived with a ‘Let’s work hard!’ mindset, I’ve changed it to ‘Let’s work hard with passion‘ and with the addition of that keyword, I’ve been able see the world around me.”
And continuing from that profound idea, he talked about his thoughts on becoming a father:
“Through my experiences in the army, getting married, and becoming a father, I’ve become someone who has a broad point of view. When I held my first child, I thought ‘So this is what my father experienced when he first held me,’ and tears began coming from my eyes. I’ve wanted to become an actor since I was in the 11th grade. Before that I exercised a lot. My dream was to become a teacher or an office worker.“
With the subject of life on their minds, interviewers were curious about the kind of actor Jang Hyuk wanted to be remembered as, he replied, “I don’t want to be remembered, I still have a lot to do.”
He definitely comes across as a humble man, in my opinion. Celebrities may be busy with work and their hectic schedules, but in the end, family always come first. Sure, it may be cliché to say “I’m finally a parent”, but the ability to say that with earnest, especially for the first time, must be incredible.
