How Yun was Cast in 'High Kick'

Actor Yoon Si-yoon revealed the behind-the-scenes story of his casting as the student "Junhyeok" in the hit sitcom "High Kick Through the Roof," which established his stardom.
In the "my life accidents" corner of KBS 2TV's "Happy Together" which aired late last month, Yun said the High Kick casting was the biggest event of his life.
He said the audition was a fight scene. While eating with friends, a gang of students come and pick on his best friend and he ends up fighting. Yun explained, "I never learned any sports but all the other actors were well built and trained." He was so discouraged that he made up his mind to act out a real fight. The others on Happy Together were curious as to what he meant.
When the audition began, Yun first began to swear and rip his shirt. He then threw things around, one of which directly hit the director's face. Yun said there was instant silence but that the director told him to return for a camera test. He was then cast soon after.
Yun added, "The director is such a famous person that I hope others don't follow my example and throw things at him in auditioning. I may have to buy him a helmet."
The three main cast members of the KBS 2TV Wednesday, Thursday drama series "Bread, Love and Dreams" -- Yoon, Eujin and Lee Yong-a -- were the guests of Happy Together as well as Eunhyuk and Leeteuk from the boy band Super Junior.

Reunion with Childhood Sweetheart Revives Hope in ‘Bread, Love and Dreams’

A male protagonist has reunited with his childhood sweetheart in the KBS2 Wednesday-Thursday drama “Bread, Love and Dreams.”
In the July 8 episode, Kim Tak-gu (Yoon Si-yoon) goes to see Shin Yoo-gyeong (Eugene) after being beaten by some men working for Han Seung-jae (Chung Sung-mo), and Yoo-gyeong brings him to her home.

When waking up, Tak-gu sees Yoo-gyeong preparing a meal and wonders if he is dreaming. He holds her tightly and exclaims in joy, “Are you really the Shin Yoo-gyeong I am looking for? Is this a dream?”
The two talk about how their lives have been while having the meal. Learning that Yoo-gyeong is attending the country’s top university, Tak-gu says, “I knew you were smart, but never expected you would be able to enter the best university. You must have read all those difficult books.”
Yoo Gyeong asks him, “How about you? Did you sever ties with the family of the Geoseong group?” Tak-gu cannot tell her honestly that he left the Geoseong family to find his mother and has since lived wildly. He unwittingly lies to her that he is working at the bakery of legendary baker Pal Bong (Jang Hang-seon). “Even a boy [Gu Ma-jun] who studied in Japan had to pass a test to work there. I competed with him and passed the test in one try,” he boasts.

When they part, Yoo-gyeong tells Tak-gu that she will visit the bakery to see him again, and unable to say “No,” Tak-gu tries to find a way to return to the shop where he has quit working. An opportunity comes when he detects bread that has gone stale simply by smelling it.
His talent for baking is also once again spotted by Pal Bong, who happens to see Tak-gu making bread using the dough he threw away.
Meanwhile, Yoo-gyeong goes to Tak-gu for help when she is pursed by the police for taking part in an underground anti-government group. Tak-gu persuades Yang Mi-sun (Lee Young-a) to let Yoo-gyeong stay with her.
This brings all three stars together in a fateful and complicated situation under the same roof, as Gu Ma-jun (Ju Won) is working at the bakery as well.
