‘Gumiho: Tale of the Fox's Child’ Holds Production Presentation

The KBS 2TV drama “Gumiho: Tale of the Fox's Child" (written by Oh Sun Hyung and Jung Do Yoon, directed by Lee Gun Joon and Lee Jae Sang), which will air its first episode on July 5, held a production presentation and announced the beginning of the drama.
At the production presentation held in Seoul Garden Hotel on July 1, the main cast members -- Han Eun Jung, Jang Hyun Sung, Kim Yoo Jung, Seo Shin Ae, Yoon Hee Suk, Kim Jung Nan, and Seo Joon Young -- as well as other supporting cast members all participated together, and they drew attention by showing united teamwork.

The script of “Gumiho: Tale of the Fox's Child“ had won an award in the “2009 KBS Drama Script Contest” and it is different from the original short Gumiho stories because it is the first full-length Gumiho story that assumes that Gumiho has a daughter, and it will be made with eighteen episodes in the drama. Actress Han Eun Jung is cast as Gumiho, who will use her maternal love to protect her half-human and half-animal daughter.
“Gumiho” has produced many star actresses who acted as Gumiho. The latest Gumiho Han Eun Jung, who might feel pressure because of other fine actresses’ successful portrayal of the character, said, “I do not feel so pressured about it, instead, I think that I was lucky as an actress because I was cast as Gumiho. I heard that many netizens are participating in voting to select the most suitable actress for Gumiho and I have gotten the highest result. After I found out the result, I came up with the thought that I might look like a fox, which I have never thought before.”

Also, Han will play as a mother for the first time, and she added, “I was worried at first because I thought that I might look too young to play a mother who has a ten-year-old daughter, but the director told me, ‘There will be no problem because Gumiho is more than thousand years old anyway.’ When I read the script, I completely immersed myself into the story. Now, Yoo Jung (Yeon Yi in the drama) is like my real daughter.” About the scene called “rose petal bath,” which became a hot issue, she explained, “I did not know that the scene became such an issue, it is not a revealing scene and only my shoulders are exposed in the scene."

Jang Hyun Sung is the counterpart to Han Eun Jung and plays Cho Ok (Seo Shin Ae)’s father. He said, “When we say Gumiho, it is easier to regard it as a fairy tale, but this drama has a very detailed script. Due to the attractive storyline, I decided to appear in the drama. Also, I am actually acting with my utmost effort, so I ask you to have high expectations about drama.”

Kim Yoo Jung, who will play a young Gumiho, a half-human and half-animal daughter of Gumiho, said, “It was difficult because it took three to five hours to do makeup to transform into Gumiho, but I thought that acting as a child Gumiho might be a very unusual but good experience for me.” Seo Shin Ae, who will play a villain in a drama for the first time, said, “I have never thought that I will compete with Yoo Jung when I act, instead, I just wanted to become friends with Yoo Jung. But, people are saying that we will have a showdown in the drama, so it actually gives me some pressure.”
Other actors such as Kim Jung Nan, Yoon Hee Suk, and Seo Joon Young will also appear in the drama. The follow up drama to “Secret Agent Miss Oh,” “Gumiho: Tale of the Fox's Child” will air its first episode on July 5 on KBS 2TV.
