Historical action film "Arrow the Ultimate Weapon" will open in theaters in Japan this August.
"Arrow," starring the lead actor Park Hae-il, has been set to be released in Japan under the translated title "God's Arrow" on August 25, according to the promoter Lotte Entertainment.
The movie was recorded as one of the highest-ranking movies last year in Korea by attracting more than eight million moviegoers during the run.
The historical flick topped the local box office for five non-consecutive weeks and Park later garnered multiple prizes at domestic film awards including the best actor award at the 48th Daejong Film Awards.
Directed by Kim Han-min, the story portrays the period when the second Manchu invaded the Korea peninsula in 1636.
Park depicts a young man named Nami, whose sister Ja-in (played by Moon Chae-won) and her fiance get kidnapped by the Qing soldiers on their wedding day.
Having a natural talent in archery, Nami fights against the Qing warriors with the bow that he received from his late father and saves the couple from danger.
While the film is driving towards more commercial success, Park's current film "Eungyo" (in Romanized Korean), has also been faring well by debuting as the second most-watched film on the Box Office during the last weekend of April.
The actor's manager told 10Asia last month that his next feature will be a comedy film titled "King of the Weekend" (translated title), which will co-star actor Song Sae-byeok. |
