[Star Interview] Park Yoochun "I envy Sun Joon who has many good friends"

From kindergarteners to grandmas, they scream "Lee Sun Joon" when they see him.
Park Yoochun is simply amazed by this change. Singer Micky Yoochun is an idol star, and is idolized by his long-time fans. However, he never imagined that grandmas and kindergarteners would be able to recognize him.
"Is this the power of a drama?" He lived as Lee Sun Joon for six months as he filmed the KBS drama, Sungkyunkwan Scandal. It was difficult, but he feels content. "As a singer, I was DBSK, JYJ's Micky Yoochun. But it feels strange to be called by my real name Park Yoochun as an actor."
He had a hectic schedule, juggling both the JYJ World Tour and the drama filming. He collapsed as soon as the drama ended. Park Yoochun dragged out his tired body because he said he wished to converse with his fans. I met him at Seoul's Nonhyun-dong on the 5th.
The reporter gathered questions from Sungkyunkwan Scandal's Producer Kim Won Suk, and fellow actors Park Min Young (Yoon Hee), Yoo Ah In (Jae Shin), Seo Hyo Rim (Hyo Eun), and Kim Ha Gyun (School Chancellor).
- When are you free? You don't even pick up your phone. Between SJ, YHa, and Geol Oh, which character do you think you could have pulled off the best? (KBS Producer Kim Won Suk)
Director, I'm sorry. I wasn't purposely avoiding, but the day after the last episode aired (2nd), I collapsed. I'm leaving for the States on the 7th for the JYJ World Tour. I'll be back in Korea at the end of this month. I'll definitely go see you when I return. I'm the most confident about playing SJ. Honestly, they're all hard, but I've already pulled off SJ's role. But if I were to play Gu Yong Ha with his charming smile, or Moon Jae Shin who's tough on the outside but soft on the inside, I would have to pull all-nighters again.
- You lived as Lee Sun Joon for five months. What was your most memorable scene? (Park Min Young)
When SJ decided to attend Sungkyunkwan and received his congratulations from Left State Minister father, I was happy as if I got accepted to Sungkyunkwan myself. And also, there's a scene where I tell Kim Yoon Hee, "I like you, Kim Yoon Shik." The filming was very tight that day. Because we were filming at the historical village, there were many onlookers. But my acting was good that day, and I was able to film several scenes in just one take.
- When choosing your next project, what would you do if you like the writing but you don't like the female actress who will play opposite you? Vice versa, if you like the actress, but the drama sucks? (Yoo Ah In)
Is this Ah In's question? Hey, what kind of a question... Hmm, personally, even if I don't like the actress, if there's something to be learned, I should learn it. I shouldn't let my personal feelings get in the way. What, an actress I like? For example, if I were to be casted in a drama with actress Kim Tae Hee, but the script is lacking? (laughs) I will be in the drama no matter what. I'll try my best in acting to make up for what's lacking in the script.
- What was the most difficult moment when acting? Do you like the character Lee Sun Joon? (Seo Hyo Rim)
The weather. In the summer, it was scorching hot. And in October, it was so cold that my lips froze shut. When we were filming at Moonkyung, the temperature fell to -10 degrees. After episode 4 (note: I wonder if he meant episode 14?), the scripts came out late and we were filming while sacrificing sleep. I thought I was going to die trying to memorize my lines when the script came out. Lee Sun Joon is like me in that we both stick to our principles, but unlike me, he doesn't express himself outwardly. I like Sun Joon so very much. Besides Kim Hyun Joong, I don't have that many celebrity friends, but I envy Sun Joon who has many good friends around him.
- You're at the top as a singer, but your ability as an actor seems to be exceptional as well. Do you have any intention to focus on acting alone? (Kim Ha Gyun)
I'm unworthy of the praise. For one month in May, I learned acting from teacher. I learned vocal techniques and how to analyze the character. (Kim Ha Gyun praised Park Yoochun for being hard-working and focused. He learned like a sponge, and at a fast rate.) At first, I was frustrated and mad because I didn't understand Lee Sun Joon's character, but after clinging onto Lee Sun Joon everyday, I felt like I was slowly becoming Lee Sung Joon. I can never give up on "Singer Micky Yoochun." But I'm also greedy for "Actor Park Yoochun" as well.
