flohon asks:
hello, I see your post concerning the ep 6. Well, when I see again the end of ep 5 with subs, I thought that there's no kiss because T won't do this in the state where was J. She's desesperate and he doesn't want forcefully her (like the mishima's kiss). And the picture when she's in peignoir is when she's in spa with friends (we see this in the preview). But then T asks the good question. Does she love him? He seems happy in the preview but also, cry in one screen. Let's see in 4 days. Too long

Hi! You know I don’t know why, call me a desperate shipper, but I somehow expect them to sleep together or at the very least, kiss, even despite the new teaser, because I don’t know what else could have possibly happened to make Takane so blissfully happy and them having a couple relationship where he is comfortable enough to spontaneously hug her in her parents house. But even if they don’t sleep with each other I still will like the scene because it really gives the relationship so much substance and development and it’s totally logical and still swoonworthy.
I added that screencap of her in the wellness simply because I wanted to include all the new sneak peeks in one post, not because it had any relation to the ending of episode 5.
About him crying in the preview, I have two theories:
1. it’s either because he saw her speaking with Kiyomiya but what seems more likely is that
2. it’s related to the memorial of her grandmother. I noticed there is a small altar behind Takane and Junko is dressed in black, a colour she doesn’t wear unless she is at funeral, while he has on a kesa which he wears only for services. Therefore I’ve been wondering whether this occassion won’t make Takane open up about the death of his parents to Junko. She looks very gentle and compassionate at him. I think I heard him saying in the preview that something about loved wants and getting hurt, though, I’m not sure by one word but it could be that “losing someone you love is very painful”. I mean with his younger brother coming it would be only logical to reveal more of his family background. But, of course, this is purely my speculation.
===================
THE UNBEARABLE HAPPINESS OF WAITING
Junko learns the hard way that the higher you put someone on a pedestal the harder he falls when your illusion shatters and the more you will get disappointed and hurt by it. And she must have felt so hurt when she realized that she was never Kiyomiya’s first choice and her fantasy about the Rockefeller Christmas tree was just a foolish dream. It’s as if her whole world fell apart in that moment and no one want to be alone in such situation. Some people run to their family members or best friends for comfort but what does is say about Junko and her feelings if the only person she can think of in that moment is the very monk she does NOT want to marry?
I love how it’s that illustrated date schedule which makes the difference in the end. Proving that all the work and effort pays off and that even the most naive and foolish-looking things and endeavors can change your life and make you win, for love favours the brave and those who work for it.
THE FEELS! When she finds Takane there, still waiting for her and holding a LITERAL HEART IN HIS HAND for her (the sheer symbolism!), 10 hours after their original meeting time! Overall, he’s been there for 16 hours, but even that is actually an understatement because the truth is he’s been waiting for her from the moment she almost killed him with that urn! And despite the fact that he’s been stood up by her and that she didn’t even bother to personally call him via Nene’s phone and apologize and that instead of running to him the moment she could she went to another’s man home without a second thought, IT’S HIM WHO APOLOGIZES TO HER for “not not being able to take her anywhere even though she took such great pains to come” (since not even the Japanese workoholics work round the clock)!
“Why”
“Because I wanted to wait for you.”
“Why aren’t you angry?”
“Because women always arrive late to dates.”
“But I have arrived 10 hours late!”
“And despite that you still came.”
Excuse me while I swoon! How do you call a man who has surpassed perfection?! And even though his last statement is swoonworthy, it is also an apt remark because Junko might have come late but in the end she did come, so why did she? She should really start asking herself that question, she should begin to entertain the possibility that Takane has somewhere along the way become dear to her; and deep inside she realizes it, it’s apparent from how taken aback she is by it. I really love how this whole scene is basically a parallel to the motif of waiting - waiting for a person, waiting for love - that runs thoroughout the whole story. THAT SOME THINGS IN LIFE ARE SIMPLY WORTH WAITING FOR NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES.
“Thinking about all the places where I should take you made me happy. Waiting for you until you come was fun. All those things made me very happy.”
How can he be happy with so little?! His confession is the final straw for Junko. His unwavering devotion, steadfastness, his goodness and his love for her humbles her and it makes her snap. I suspect that deep down she’s suffering from an inferioty complex that she is not good enough and certainly not good enough for him, and his grandmother has only reinforced this notion in her.
“I’m not the good person you think I am. You’ve been completely mistaken by me. I’m dishonest. Even though I knew it would hurt you I met with another man today. Am I not the worst?! Please, find a different woman, not someone like me. Why? How can you be so honest?! Aren’t you afraid of getting hurt by a rejection?!”
It’s as if she was physically hitting him with each word and I really think she wants to hurt him out of sheer desperation. She is literally begging him to agree with her to make him hate her just as much as she hates herself, daring him to condem her. Yet, she can’t meet his eyes the whole time, as if she was afraid what she would see in them, afraid that she would have to watch as the love in them gets replaced by hate and disdain. It’s obvious Takane is slightly hurt and shocked by her outburst and revelation but he can immediately notice that she is the one who is getting hurt the most by her speech and that she is desolate and sad.
