For ‘Rooftop Prince’ Lee Gak even 300 years couldn’t separate him from his love. So how about Park Yoochun‘s romance?
Park Yoochun revealed he wants to make it public when he gets involved in a relationship.
Park Yoochun gave an interview for ‘No Cut News’ after wrapping up the SBS drama ‘Rooftop Prince’ and he spoke about the romance he dreams about.
Park Yoochun stated, “I’ve been thinking about it from way back and I want to make it public when I get a girlfriend. Until now I’ve never introduced my parents to any of my girlfriends. Then my father got ill and the thought occurred to me on many occasions that I wanted to introduce my girlfriend to him. Having that sort of mindset made it even more difficult to meet someone.”
Park Yoochun continued, “After my father passed away I thought I want to meet someone whom I can take to my dad’s final resting place. If I’m able to introduce her to my father then shouldn’t it be given that I introduce her to everyone else?”
Park Yoochun added, “All entertainers wish to make their relationships public. I’m sure everyone has that mindset. I think it would be nice to go on a date in a public place where there are many people. Even though I know we’d get our pictures taken and be written on articles”, and he showed a playful smile.
朴有天補充說，“所有的藝人都希望公開戀情，我確信每個人都有那個想法。我想 去有很多人的公共場合约會會很好。即使我知道我們會被拍照或上報”，然後他露出一個調皮的微笑。
In the end Park Yoochun stated, “There will be many difficulties after making the relationship public. I can’t say about a regular person, but if I were involved with another entertainer then because of each others’ careers you’d have to be prudent in your decision making.”

Before we know it, it is already the third drama. He came to sudden prominence as an actor for the first time in KBS2’s drama ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’. Through MBC’s ‘Miss Ripley’, he even bagged the newcomer award in MBC’s drama awards after winning it in the KBS’s drama awards. Through SBS’s ‘Rooftop Prince’, he has also shown a more mature side of him as an actor. “He is rising in the acting industry,” people praised. However, Park Yoochun shook his head in disapproval.
“I don’t think it’s that.”
I met Park Yoochun at a hotel in Sangamdong, Seoul for an interview on May 31. He has shown excellent acting as the leading role in all three dramas. ‘Rooftop Prince’ Park Ji Min who acted together with Park Yoochun said, “He broke the prejudice that I had against idol actors.” Viewers also had similar comments on Park Yoochun. “He is improving.”
“It seems that I’ve gotten to know the ‘taste’ of acting.” Park Yoochun was somewhat strict on evaluating his own performance. “I think I can get rid of the pressure and stress to some extent in order to know the way to get into the character naturally. I haven’t been able to learn acting through proper acting lessons so I’m just acting using the experiences that I have had in my life.”
He said, “Acting in ‘Rooftop Prince’ was more difficult than any other drama.” He had to take on two roles so his schedule was tight. He also had to go to South America for a concert with JYJ.
“There were also many times when we faced the danger of not being able to broadcast the episodes on time. The script for the 20th episode came a little late so we had to shoot 70 scenes continuously in two days. I felt like dying. I even had a nosebleed. However, while I was filming and racing for time, my level of concentration increased every moment.”
There were also other difficulties. While filming for ‘Rooftop Prince’, Park Yoochun also experienced agony as his father had passed away. During that time, Park Yoochun had just completed the performances in South America. Right after the wake, he was seen going straight back to the ‘Rooftop Prince’ filming set.
“It is the reason why I have a stronger attachment to this drama. Honestly, it was not easy for me to return to my normal condition at the set. However, when I decided to act in this drama, I knew that Ji Min nuna and I had to act together in many parts, so I felt a sense of responsibility. I felt that it was right to go back to the set and I went through a lot there. I gained strength from the fans who supported me. Even the people who couldn’t bring up the subject and only conversed about day-to-day happenings with me… All these people had given me strength.”
Park Yoochun plans to do more activities as an actor. After ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’ in 2010, he has been filming regularly year after year. Yet, he is still looking for more drama activities. “I want to do more work.” It is the greed of wanting to be the leading actor indisputably.
“I am looking at several dramas proposals right now and I want to make a decision within this month so that I can return to acting quickly. I want to do more activities before I get enlisted into the army. After serving the army, I would be in my 30s. So, I think there are some dramas that I can act in when I am still in my 20s. I want to make good use of my age now since time passes very quickly. It is already June and I want to do many activities before the year ends.”
"我現在正在看幾部電視劇的提案，我想要在這個月内做决定，這樣我才能盡快重返演藝事業。我要在當兵前多做些活動，當兵後我就是30歲世代的人了，所以我想有些電視劇是我還是20幾歲的時候才能演的，我要好好把握我的年纪，因為時間過得很快。已經6月了，我要在年底前從事很多活動。“

“If it’s a girl like Han Ji Min, I don’t think I will receive negative comments even if I decide to publicly date her.” This was what JYJ’s Park Yoo Chun stated during a recent interview about his fellow co-star Han Ji Min from the recently ended drama, “Rooftop Prince.”
Prior to this interview, Han Ji Min stated in her own interview, “Yoochun worked so hard that I felt guilty for viewing him with prejudiced eyes since he was originally a singer. He is an actor with one of the best work ethics.” Likewise, Yoochun did not hold back with his praise for Han Ji Min.
He said, “Since she is so easy-going, it was very comfortable to act with her. Even kiss scenes weren’t that hard. We spent four months filming this drama and it seemed like I knew her for over ten years. That’s how comfortable she was to me. When she was Park Ha, I wanted to hug her but when she came back to herself as Ji Min nuna, she was the one who took care of me. She always laughed harder and cried harder at my parts. She always pulled me forward.”
The interviewer asked Yoochun, “Have you ever viewed Han Ji Min as a woman you’d like to date?” He laughed as he answered, “Not at all. But honestly, even I can see how we would fit together very well. That’s the reaction of the viewers as well. I even thought, ‘If I date this kind of person publicly, people would actually like it and cheer for it’ since everyone kept saying we looked good together.”
Finally, the interviewer said, “Han Ji Min once said that she couldn’t imagine a singing Park Yoo Chun.” Then Yoochun replied, “I’ve heard that too. It was unexpected. I’ve never thought of myself that way. So for a moment, I was blank. Whether I am engaged as a singer or an actor, I focus on each part of myself at that certain time. Anyhow, the steps have been laid out so I really hope that our music and appearance on broadcast will be able to happen soon.”

JYJ’s Yoochun shared his honest feelings about sasaeng fans in a recent interview with TV Report. The singer/actor that successfully wrapped up his latest drama, “Rooftop Prince,” started off by saying, “Sasaengs are one part of the fans, but it’s hard to understand them anymore.”

“I was able to get to this point because of the fans that supported me for such a long time, with the heart of a mom. Obviously, there have been other types of fans, too. To be honest with you, I don’t think they (sasaengs) are true fans. I’ve tried to understand and accept them as part of the fandom, but it’s been like that for eight years already. Now it’s just too hard to understand them. People tell me it’s part of being a celebrity, and that might be right. But it’s not as easy as you think,” he said.
”我能够有今天是因為粉丝們以一颗媽媽的心，對我長時間的支持。但顯然也有其它類型的粉丝。老實說，我認為她們（私生）不是真的粉丝。我曾經試着去了解她們，並接受她們是一部份的粉丝，但像那樣已經有8年了，現在真的太難理解她們了。大家告诉我這是成名的一部份，那也許没錯，但不是你們想的那麼容易，“他說。

Meanwhile, Yoochun’s latest TV drama “Rooftop Prince” aired its finale on May 24, with the best TV ratings among other competitors. He played the dual role of Lee Gak and Yong Tae Yong for the time traveling fantasy drama, creating good chemistry with his female counterpart, Han Ji Min.

“After reading the script for 19th and 20th episode, I have expected the drama would be ranked first in viewer ratings.”
Park Yoochun (27) has acted the role of Josun Crown Prince ‘Lee Gak’ in SBS drama ‘Rooftop Prince’ which claimed the first place in ratings and surpassed other dramas in the same time plot in the close battle of Wed-Thurs dramas. As a member of the group JYJ, after ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’ and ‘Miss Ripley’ followed by his third time he appeared in drama, he has proved that not only he has singing and dancing skills but he also possesses an acting ability that is deemed perfect for a well-prepared ‘Acting-dol’.
In the latest interview took place at Euljiro Seoul, Park Yoochun talked about the lingering feelings for the drama after it has ended “It is good that I was absorded in the role ‘Lee Gak’. I have an attachment for this drama more than any other one before and it made my heart feel at ease. The atmosphere between the staff and actors is the best. It was the first time I had such a good time while filming for a drama.”
When the filming has just begun, Park Yoochun’s father passed away and it was the hardest time he has ever gone through but somehow, though the comic act in the drama, his sorrow was eased. “Acting becomes my console so the more I was immersed in acting, the more I feel comforted. As I fell more and more in my role, I felt comforted through that character”. Except for the time he was in tears while being in his car after spending all night shooting for the drama, tears from his personal sad story can never be seen on his face.
He said he liked the last scene in episode 19 the most. Ever since he received the script, it has become his favorite part. It is the scene where Lee Gak and Park Ha bid farewell at their wedding as Lee Gak gradually dissapears and returns to the Josun era. “I was already in tears when rehearsing for the scene. The staff and the director also cried. I feel proud that I have acted with all my heart and the feeling of separation from each other strucked me too. Even though it was filmed in a rush, I felt satisfied.”
Also, he smiled and said “My hand was supposed to fade away first while I was wiping tears on Park Ha’s face but when I watched the broadcast, my body vanished first so I was a bit confused. The hand should be the last part to fade away.”
It was only the third time Park Yoochun acted in drama. Before his first drama ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’, a 3-week acting class was all he took to study acting. His first debut in acting received more attentiont than expected. Because of the burden and pressure to show another different side from his previous drama, in the middle of shooting for the second drama ‘Miss Ripley’, he has even thought of giving up. However, in his third drama, he can naturally add his own ad-libs while acting. He still felt regret and said “While reading my lines, I also practiced the action that would match the lines so my acting became more natural. But whenever I made eye contact with Sukwon hyung ( Jung Sukwon who acts the role ‘Yongsul’), there would be lots of NG, a lot of my ad-libs were not broadcasted too”.
Furthermore, “Acting as Yong Taeyong who is in a coma at the hospital was very hard. I used to have interest in medical drama but it seems that I won’t be able to do well in it. Acting as if the pupils of my eyes don’t focus on anything was really hard because I must not blink at all and keep my eyes open all the time. At first, I kept bugging “Should I just close my eyes…”. After that, he joked “At the beginning, as I must use a long wig for the role Lee Gak, it was so uncomfortable but just when I started feeling that this wig fit me so perfectly, I had to take it off.”
Park Yoochun’s younger brother also follows him to become an actor and JYJ’s Jaejoong is currently acting in MBC fusion historical drama ‘Dr.Jin’ too, but because Park Yoochun was so busy, he didn’t have free time to monitor at all. He said “At home, I came accross Yoohwan’s drama (MBC daily drama ‘I can’t live without you’) accidentally and watched its last 10 minutes. As Yoohwan’s face was shown at the ending, I showed my interest by telling him that I saw him appeared at the ending. I am not a type that would gives special advices, nor did i think that I did better than him because I started acting ealier”. About Kim Jaejoong’s acting, he complimented “I only got to watch the 30-second highlight but just like in ‘Protect the boss’, he delivered strong feelings perfectly. I only heard him saying one word but I think he got the tone well.”
He said “As wandering around is bothersome to me, when we went to South America for our concert, while those two (Kim Jaejoong, Kim Junsu) were wandering around, I stayed in my hotel room and watched the Japanese version of ‘Dr.Jin’. At that time, I didn’t know Jaejoong would take which role in it.”
Due to the naturally intimate chemistry between Park Yoochun and the female lead Han Jimin who acted as Park Ha, the viewers start questioning and wonder ‘Are these two really not dating each other?’. When talking about this, he said he is always thankful for Han Jimin’s kindness “Jimin noona is like a noona-next-door to me. Her personality is bubbly and bright so it’s more comfortable to be a dongsaeng.I feel like we have known each other for a really long time.”
Park Yoochun is spending his birthday on June 4 in Bali, Indonesia for a photoshoot. Because of the schedule such as JYJ’s overseas concert etc, he doesn’t remember the last time he spent his birthday in Korea. He is planning to take a break after finishing all the schedules including fansign events etc.
