AAE Recap - Wednesday's Episode(June 1, 2005)

At night, Nicole was already getting very ill with high fever but still insisted on broadcasting live for her “Musical Postcard” programme. When the other colleagues suggested using pre-recorded programmes, she smiled weakly, “Someone just told me that I have to be more serious towards my work.” Kenneth had said these words earlier. At this time, Kenneth was driving home and he tuned in to Nicole’s live programme, just as he always did. “What is it like to be loved deeply by the person you love? What would the feeling be? For those of you who want to reply this immediately, you must realize how fortunate you are. Even though we argue that one-sided love is also a form of love, but you can never produce sound just by using one hand alone.” This represented his feelings perfectly, Kenneth thought to himself. “This is tonight’s last song…” Suddenly, Nicole’s voice disappeared. She had barely held out until the last song and collapsed right on the broadcast table. Kenneth was puzzled. He tried successfully tuning in to other stations, looked at his watch and thought it’s not time for Nicole’s programme to end yet. Suddenly, he recalled her pale face earlier in the day and sensed that something was amiss. Had something happened to her? He made a swift u-turn and rushed back to the office. When he saw Nicole lying unconscious on the sofa, fear gripped hold of him. He carried her up and rushed all the way to the hospital.

Nicole’s dad could not rush back till the next morning and Kenneth promised to take care of Nicole. Sitting beside her hospital bed, Kenneth couldn’t stop blaming himself, “Why didn’t I realize earlier she’s ill? And to think I was so harsh to her this morning!” He soothed her flushed forehead, held her hand, and stayed with her throughout the night… When she woke up the next morning, Kenneth had already left after Nicole’s dad arrived.

This day, Warren was going home when he saw Erica waiting for him. Again, Erica begged his forgiveness and asked to patch back with him. Warren seemed uncertain for a moment but still left.

Nicole was reading a magazine on the hospital bed when she came across an article on Wen Rong Group future successor, Kenneth Yun and his impending engagement to the daughter of the Chairman of a certain big company. All of a sudden, she felt so confused. She could not tell apart the familiar school senior that she once knew so dearly from the capable businessman mentioned in the article. She felt so distant from Kenneth. Just then, Kenneth called and asked if he could visit her. She felt perplexed after reading the article and lied, “No, don’t…erm, my father’s coming. Where are you now?” In actual fact, Kenneth was already at the hospital but thinking that Nicole didn’t want to see him, he replied he’s at the company carpark and drove off, feeling devastated. To him, distancing himself from Nicole was the most heart breaking thing…

In the end, Warren succumbed to his love for Erica and they patched back. He wanted to return her the videotape but she pretended to refuse taking it back.

At the first meeting after she was discharged, Nicole saw Kenneth the moment she stepped into the room. Recalling the article she saw, she asked, “I saw articles on Director Yun, from the newspapers and magazines… I feel Director Yun isn’t quite like the man I know. Which is the real you?” Kenneth thought this was interesting. He smiled at her, “Nicole, whenever you are angry with me, you would call me Director Yun, am I right?” “We…” Nicole lowered her head, “ Director and I…. are we still the kind of relationship where we can get angry with each other? Director Yun had said to give me up… and to let go of me…” Before Kenneth could reply, the other colleagues came into the meeting room. He stole a glance at her, thinking that if it was so easy to give her up, he wouldn’t be suffering right now.

AAE Recap - Tuesday's Episode(May31, 2005)

Warren coldly told Erica that he would keep the videotape with him. He reminded her that the next time she wanted to do something evil again, pause and remember that he had the videotape in his hands. After he left, Erica shouted and cried hysterically.

Back to Kenneth’s home, Kenneth took a towel and quietly sat down to dry Nicole’s hair. When he finally spoke, his tone was full of sorrow, “From the start, I knew that Warren is the most important person in your life…” Nicole tried to explain but he continued, “But when I saw them leaving together, and then I saw you waiting for Warren in the rain… I asked myself, what am I to you? Later, I finally understood. I mean nothing to you… To love someone, if it’s not all, then it’s nothing.” He could feel his heart being torn apart as he said the words. Nicole tried anxiously to explain, “I’m not waiting for Warren because I like him. It’s just that I believe he will turn up for our appointment, no matter what.” Kenneth asked her, “Does he believe in you too? Are you so important to him too?” Kenneth was too heart-broken, he stretched out his hand to her, “Come, I’ll send you back. Maybe Warren is waiting for you right now. If that is really the case, then maybe I…. I should really give you up and let you go… Get up. I’ll take you back.” Nicole tried to express her feelings for him, “Kenneth(Senior), I…actually I…,” but the words just wouldn’t leave her throat. She loved Kenneth deeply but before she could walk straight back to him again, she couldn’t say the words… She couldn’t hurt him anymore…

Kenneth drove Nicole back to the place they left earlier. He kept his eyes fixed ahead. A whole tumult of emotions was raging through his mind. Right now, he could not figure out why he’s sending the woman he loved so dearly into the arms of another man. As it turned out, Warren really turned up and Nicole reluctantly alighted from Kenneth’s car. As her weight lifted off the car, Kenneth could feel his heart being emptied too… Nicole walked to Warren but couldn’t help but turn back to look into Kenneth’s eyes. Warren caught sight of Kenneth too. Kenneth realized his expression was revealing too much of his bare emotions, he smiled at them and drove off. As he drove, tears welled in his eyes…

At Warren’s home, he advised Nicole to go back to Kenneth’s side. When Nicole inquired of his relationship with Erica, Warren seemed undecided, “It’s difficult for me to decide whether I would forgive Erica from here onwards or to hate her…” Nicole knew that Warren understood her very well. She was in love with Kenneth. When she saw his hurt expression just now, she felt as though she was dying. But she could not go back to him after she had hurt him so deeply… she couldn’t be so selfish… This night, she couldn’t get to sleep and kept tossing about on her bed. She had contracted a cold after being caught in the rain earlier. In between coughs, Kenneth’s parting words kept coming back to her ears, “…. I should really give you up and let you go…”

Because she was not feeling well, Nicole arrived late for a meeting the next day. Kenneth criticized her working attitude in front of all the colleagues. Kenneth was so angry that she hasn't talked to the producer as her segment is going to be shown the next day. He reprimanded her for not treating things seriously and they can't be late in producing a programme. After the meeting, Nicole waited for Kenneth outside his office. “Kenneth(Senior), about yesterday…” She didn’t have the chance to finish her sentence, Kenneth interrupted her, “We would only talk business in the office.” He looked up at her, “You wouldn’t think that I had reprimanded you earlier at the meeting because of you and Warren?” He stared at her intensely, “I don’t think you would, but we aren’t the only ones working in the company, so we have to be serious when it comes to work.” Nicole could only managed a weak “yes”. Kenneth continued, “I have acceded to most of your requests regarding work, but I hope this won’t be the case in future… now, colleagues are assessing your capability on the basis of our relationship, don’t tell me you still want to be misunderstood further?” He wanted her to prove to others that her success was based solely on her own efforts. Nicole could not find the right words to reply except to apologize, “I’m sorry… I had thought you might want to know about Warren and Erica’s news. I would handle this more carefully in future…” She stood up to leave and felt momentarily light-headed and held onto the armrest. Kenneth frowned seeing this…

AAE Recap - Thursday's Episode (May 26,2005)

Nicole was still waiting for Kenneth outside his house when she received a call from Auntie saying that Warren was brought to the police station for fighting. Worried about Warren, she decided to leave. At this time, Kenneth’s car drove past and they missed each other…
At the police station, Nicole was very sad to see Warren covered in bruises. When she knew that he had fought with others because of Erica, all the more her heart ached for his foolishness. They have also informed Erica but she did not come afterall. Auntie Alma cried bitterly and begged Nicole to return to Warren’s side.

Auntie Alma: Would you help him? Only you can help him now. Didn’t you like Warren a lot in the past?” Nicole, I'm scared. Why has Warren become like this? That ruthless lousy woman has turned him into this state!

Nicole found herself caught in a dilemma… Even as she comforted Auntie Alma, she felt so worried for Warren too. How much longer could Warren go on like this? But how could she go on hurting Kenneth? Finally, she made a decision. She could not let Kenneth wait for her anymore…

At the riverside, Nicole told Kenneth her decision.

Nicole : I couldn’t leave Warren in the lurch…

Kenneth turned to face her. What did she mean by this? Had what he feared most arrived?

Nicole : He is so miserable now, and Auntie Alma had been like a mother to me, I couldn’t bear to see them like this…(She looked at him)You once said, letting Warren and Erica go to England would be the last time you would help them, but I couldn’t let it be the last time.

Kenneth looked at her calmly.

Kenneth : What do you hope me to do?

Nicole : I hope you won’t be hurt anymore. After today, don’t bother yourself with me again.

Nicole could feel her heart being torn apart as she said these cruel words. To her surprise, Kenneth only sighed and replied…

Kenneth : If you are the only one who can help Warren, then just go ahead.

But how could she be so selfish? She looked into his sorrowful eyes.

Nicole: But I’m not only purely helping him… what if I…. I were to marry Warren, what would you do then?”

Kenneth felt his breath went out of him.

Kenneth : Till then, I just won’t wait for you anymore…. but before that, I want to make my own decisions. You go and help Warren and once you are done, just come back to me. Don’t worry about anything else. You just do what you wish to do, come to me if you face any problems.

Nicole : If you do that, I’ll be a shameless person

Kenneth : I’m not doing this because I’m a good man. It’s because I can understand your feelings for Warren … it’s the same as what I feel for you. (His heart ached) You just need to remember that someone is waiting for you here, always waiting…

Nicole was deeply touched by his words but she had to be firm with her decision.

Nicole: Goodbye Senior.

Seeing Nicole walking fast away, he shouted.

Kenneth : I’ll wait for you! always...

Nicole could only look at Kenneth wordlessly, for no words could express her feelings right now.

The next day after work, Kenneth bumped into Warren and Nicole at the carpark. Warren was ignorant of their relationship and told Nicole to alight and go over to Kenneth but she refused. Kenneth did not want Nicole to feel embarrassed and drove off immediately. Since he had decided to wait for her, he would not do anything to put her in a dilemma. Nicole accompanied Warren home. Auntie Alma was very happy to see Warren and Nicole together. On the hand, Warren was angry to know his mother’s request and told Nicole not to listen to her as she would force her to be his wife. Nicole told him it was nothing of that sort and not to utter rubbish. Later, Warren send her off outside and she went home alone.after telling Warren not to drink anymore. In her own room, she curled her knees up to her chin and touched the anklet Kenneth gave her on her birthday. She hadn’t removed it since the day he put it on for her. She recalled the encounter with Kenneth at the carpark today and pain shot through her heart. Meanwhile, Kenneth was taking a long bath with a glass of wine in his hand, deep in thoughts…

Warren’s producer got a warning because he turned a show into a striptease showcase. He was unrepentant and Kenneth was mad. Mr. Kim humiliated him later by asking Erica to join his programme as a host. Kenneth was angry that he made the request in front of him but he was relieved when she insisted of being Eve's morning's host.

Warren went to the pub to drown his sorrows again and Nicole had no choice but to follow him. They bumped into Kenneth and Erica there. Erica had asked Kenneth for a treat since she had earlier rejected an invitation from his step-uncle to host a rival show to “The Morning of Eve”. Kenneth was opening his briefcase to show Erika a new proposal when she asked…

Erica : What is the pin number to your briefcase? Most people will usually use either birth dates or telephone numbers.

Nicole got jealous - what relationship do they have to ask something so personal? She wanted to leave but she couldn’t.

Kenneth purposely said it loud and clear so that Nicole could hear it at the next table,

Kenneth : 0706. It’s the birthday of a friend whom I like very much.

Warren heard it and asked Nicole.

Warren : Isn’t that your birthday?”

After saying this, Warren rushed out to vomit. Nicole was about to follow him but Kenneth stopped her and went instead.

Warren went to the pub to drown his sorrows again and Nicole had no choice but to follow him. They bumped into Kenneth and Erica there. Erica had asked Kenneth for a treat since she had earlier rejected an invitation from his step-uncle to host a rival show to “The Morning of Eve”. Kenneth was opening his briefcase to show Erika a new proposal when she asked…

Warren : What is this? You already have Nicole, so what are you trying to do?

Warren had mistaken Kenneth’s relationship with Erica.

Kenneth : .Just as your feelings for Erica, I only have Nicole in my heart. Whatever she wants to do, I will support her.

Inside the bar, Erica and Nicole faced each other. Erica was already desperate that time and asked Nicole.

Erica : When Warren comes back, please disappear with him.

Nicole: You're disgusting! Who is it who made Warren...

Erica : Yes, it is me. So what?

Nicole : You've hurt him terribly, yet you can act as if you don't see anything.

Erica : This is the kind of world we're living in. People like me hurt someone and people like you were be there to do the comforting. Isn't that the difference between Erica and Nicole?

Erica : Nicole, do me a favor. Warren is yours to take. You can be the show host and the news anchor. You can have them all back. Let me have Kenneth Yun. Of all your possessions, just give me Kenneth

Nicole : Give up Erica, give up!

Erica : No. I can't give up. I've staked everything I have on him. If I stop, I'm finished.

Nicole : There’s nothing that can't be stopped. You just don't want to.

Erica : Say you'll give in.

Nicole : Till a moment ago, I still didn't know why I'd been competing with you. But now, I seem to understand. I'll make you stop.

Erica was about to answer back but Warren and Kenneth were already there. Nicole got their bags and after saying sorry to Kenneth, she left together with Warren Kennetn was so upset seeing her so worried and taking away Warren. Warren finally knew that he couldn’t make Nicole sacrifice for him and decided to buck up. Nicole used her lipstick to write encouraging messages on his car. Cielo teased her and wondered why she doesn't act out this scene with Kenneth instead. She joked if she doesn't want him, she can give him as a present. Nicole shivered upon recalling Nicole’s words.

With the passage of time, colleagues were beginning to realize Nicole’s sincere and kind character and in contrast, Erika’s scheming nature. Everyone liked Nicole but gave Erica the cold shoulder. This day, Kenneth was in the lift when the doors opened at the radio broadcast studio. He was about to press the close button when he saw Nicole walked past. Nicole’s smile vanished and he was tormented upon recalling their agreement. Is he waiting for her in vain? She was thinner and there was a frown knitted between her eyebrows. He decided to follow her like what he did in the past and hid at a corner to hear her broadcast.

Nicole : In the painful months after we parted, the sense of hopelessness invaded my heart. It was after we met that I realized every little thing that happened in the world mattered to me. I was grateful to be born into this world. My heart that loved you deeply too loved the world which you live in. When I saw a flower by the roadside, I'd be reminded of the days when I had you. I put my head on your shoulder on a certain day. The setting sun that disappeared in the far end of the sea. Our love was so sweet. This spring could be a spring we spent apart. It would be the most painful spring my motherland had seen. May happiness always be with you. Farewell.

"Nicole was really a very remarkable broadcaster now”, he thought to himself. She had overcome so many obstacles to become what she is today. Looking at her, he couldn’t help but smile. Even though the smile hinged heavily on bitterness, it’s also full of sincerity. After listening to her programme, he walked along the corridor and wondered if waiting is a part of love.

At this time, Jasper was released from the prison. Once again, he phoned Erica. Erica was shocked to hear his voice again and promptly hanged up the phone. She had been feeling very angry lately at Judith’s apparent concern for Nicole. Earlier, her conniving plan to frame Nicole of deleting Judith computer file was also discovered by the latter. At the carpark, an evil thought grew in her mind and she sabotaged Judith’s car brake system. As a result, Judith met with an accident.

AAE Recap - Monday's Episode (May 30, 2005)

At the carpark, an evil thought grew in Erica’s mind and she sabotaged Judith’s car brake system. As a result, Judith met with an accident and Erica was asked to take over Judith as the nine p.m. news’ broadcaster. She was pretending to decline the job when Judith came back on crutches, insisting that she was fine and could carry on with the broadcast. Erica was furious that her plan had backfired.

Finally, Warren gradually returned to his natural self again. He felt bad for his rash words to Nicole the other night and decided to invite her for dinner. When he later heard news that Judith was injured in an accident, his sixth sense told him something fishy was going on. As a cameraman, he knew that the carpark would be fitted with security cameras. He went to the Security department to ask for the tape and discovered Erica’s doings. At this time, Erica was parking her car in the carpark when she accidentally saw the security cameras. Panic shot through her…

It was raining heavily and Nicole was waiting for Warren for their dinner date. Kenneth saw her and asked his assistant to return with his umbrella. He walked past and went over to talk to her, “Hi, long time no see…” He took shelter in her umbrella and asked smilingly, “What are you doing?” Nicole replied hesitantly, “I’m waiting for someone… for Warren …” He understood. “I just had my dinner and on my way back to the office…” He had to go. “The umbrella…” Before Nicole could finish her sentence, a car zoomed past and water splashed onto both of them. Kenneth reflexively used her umbrella to shield her from the water and caught her in his arms. Instantly, she felt very shy at their intimacy. Kenneth sensed her shyness and said his goodbye to her.

Erica realized that her actions have been caught on camera and went to the security department to ask for the tape but was told it was already taken by Warren. When she couldn’t find Warren in his office, she frantically searched through his workplace, looking for the tape. Warren appeared and told her the tape’s with him. Erica kneeled in front of Warren and begged him to forgive her, “Please let me off, Warren! It’s all my fault, could you please let me off?” She could not let anyone discover that tape! “Would you talk to me please? You know how much I love you! Please give me a chance to explain…” Looking at her desperate expression, Warren felt as though he had finally seen her true and natural self. Erica frantically clung on to him and suggested they find a place to talk things over.

At this time, Kenneth was leaving the office after work. He was surprised when he saw Warren and Erica drove off together. Suddenly he seemed to remember something and immediately drove off into the rain…

Nicole was still waiting for Warren. The rain was getting heavier and she shivered in the cold wind. Just then, Kenneth appeared. Seeing Nicole still waiting in the pouring rain, his heart ached for the love for her yet angry at her foolishness. He went over and wordlessly pulled her into his car

Despite her protests, Kenneth forcefully dragged Nicole onto his car. Nicole was furious at his sudden actions and demanded he stop the car immediately. However, Kenneth was too angry to take heed of her words. He told her harshly, “Call home to say you are not going back!” and then proceeded to drive her back to his home. There, Nicole blew her top, “How could you do this! Don’t you know that I’m waiting for Warren?” She turned, preparing to leave but heard Kenneth’s words, “He wouldn’t be coming. The Warren you trusted so much won’t come.” But Nicole would not believe that Warren would stand her up without at least giving her a call.. Kenneth then told her, “Do you know where he is now? He’s with Erica right now!”

On the other side, Warren drove Erica to a hotel. Erica tried to make advancements at him but he was not moved by her seductions. She cried bitterly and tried to explain she had committed the deed in a moment of folly. Warren coldly told her that he would keep the videotape with him. He reminded her that the next time she wanted to do something evil again, pause and remember that he had the videotape in his hands. After he left, Erica shouted and cried hysterically.
